If you are talking about entries, to add an entry (or multiple entries), click on the 7th button from the left on your toolbar. A dialog box will appear. There you can add 1-99 entries, either before the first entry, after the current entry or after the last entry. After the last entry is the default choice. Ig you need more than 99, you will have to repeat the process.

For deleting entries, click on the trash can button, which is the 8th button on the toolbar (and directly to the right of where you add entries). A dialog box will appear. You can either delete the current entry (Entry X) or all blank entries. The current entry is the default choice.

If you are talking about images in a batch, those cannot be deleted.

What do you mean by "wrong images?" Are they the wrong type of record for the batch/project?

The batch file had 4 images in it. one of the 4 did not belong to the batch. I am reviewing it, and someone had indexed it, and did not include the proper information.

If it does not belong to the batch, or has no data that can be indexed, mark it as No, No Extractable Data in Step 1: Images.

I feel like people are using the same words to speak two different languages here. Echoing Áine: what do you mean by "did not belong"? If it's in the batch, then it belongs in the batch. It may or may not contain indexable data; that depends on the project instructions, and if you've done enough indexing to be allowed to review, then surely you know how to both determine what's indexable and tell the system your determination.

For clarity, my definitions of what I see as key indexing vocabulary:

Batch: the image or sequence of images that the computer has assigned to you for indexing or review. The number of images in a batch is determined by the project, and the grouping proceeds purely numerically: if there are four images per image, then film (or digital image group) NN images 1 to 4 will be one batch, 5 to 8 will be another batch, and so on. (It makes no difference in the grouping if images 4, 5, and 6 are for one guy, and 7, 8, and 9 are for the next guy. If it's four per batch, then 5 to 8 will be together. This comes up a lot in the naturalization projects.)

Reference image: because the grouping of images into a batch is independent of the contents of those images, the system allows a slightly wider "window" on the film or digital image group, so that the person who got assigned Page 1 can see Page 2 to complete the indexing of his entries. These preceding and following images can also be used to determine the correct year (for example), or to see how this particular clerk wrote capital T versus capital F.

Entry: each project assigns a set number of entries to every image in a batch. On something like a census or a directory project, this preset number can be in the tens or hundreds; on projects like naturalizations or probate files, it can be as few as one or two per image. Each entry is meant to record one event or person from the image: one line from a census or directory, one birth or death from a church register, one probate case or naturalization. If the preset number is wrong for your image, then you can add more, or remove the extras. (Again, if you've gotten to reviewing, you're likely an old hand at this.)

Extractable: included in the scope of the project. Each project makes its own rules about that scope, so you have to read the project instructions to make this determination. Telling the system your answer is Step One in both indexing and review, and it is done at the per-image level. For example, if you happen to get a batch consisting of the first four images on a film, you'll probably need to mark all four as "No Extractable Data": filming bookmark, front cover, inside front cover, title page.

It would be incredibly helpful to all of us if we were able to look at what you are talking about. If you were to share the batch with us, we could probably post a correct answer for you.

To share the batch, just open the batch, select the "Help" tab at the top left of your screen, scroll down to and select "Share batch", then follow the instructions. Paste the link here and within a few hours, you will have the solution.

    I hope this helps!

PS You will need to not submit the batch for us to be able to open it and come to a conclusion. Unfortunately, if the batch comes to it's due date before we are able to answer you, we won't be able to do so. But at least you will know how to share a batch and get help the next time 😁
