Not a question, just a comment on spotty information

I just completed a batch for marriages in the 1800's in Ireland. The initial indexer wisely sent the record back, because it was too difficult. Good for them. However, before returning the batch, they filled in some of the information (not always correctly and without looking at each record) on the remaining pages.

I do wish that if batches are too difficult, yes, sent the batch back, but no, don't add, a date or year all the way through the batch. Dates and years change, and if the indexer is not completing the entire batch and looking at each record, they cannot provide the correct information.

i suspect the original indexer thought they were helping by adding what they could on the rest of the pages..That makes it very confusing to the person who then must review as well as index the rest. If it is too difficult, simply just send it back.

Hope this helps and doesn't offend.

In such a case, you can eliminate all the incorrect entries using control delete then return the now empty batch so that someone else can index then the batch will come back thru to be reviewed, ay least this how I think it would work and save you a lot of headache 😉
