There is not an example of this type of indexing in the project information. Please help starting with entry 3. How do I document S. Nikita, Ovdotia? Does Petr become the father in this case?

    These are mixed records: For entries 1 and 2, these are marriages and you need to fill in the missing information with the <blank> key. Do not type blank. for entry # 3 and others like it, you need to refer to the list of abbreviations in the project instructions. I copied the list into my Word program and printed it for easy reference. entry #3, a baptism/baptism record reads as follows:

    child's surname: Khudiakov given name: Petr born: June 13, 1849 baptized (bp) June 19, 1849 son of Nikita - father's given name and mother's given name Ovdotia

    Here's the list of abbreviations:

      • bp.: baptized
      • ch.: christened or christmated
      • d.: daughter
      • dd.: died
      • dup.: duplicate record in same book
      • f.: female
      • m.: married
      • n.d.g.: no date given
      • n.p.g.: no parents given

      • s.: son
      • sis.: sister

    What does s. u. stand for? Son?

    Thank you so much! This is helpful. Since there are so many variations I hide the information not needed in all of them, and fill out the blanks on the review. It is easy to CTL B all the way through when I am sure the rest is filled.

    I refer to the abbreviation list often! I saw that the s. was son, but it also meant supplement. I'm not sure what that would refer to. On the next line I figured Nastasia was female so I was confused since that would not be a son, and it was not specified in the list.

    I just skimmed through so I son't see s. u, but I might be back if I run into it, and am confused again!

    Glad I could help — see on the list where s with the colon is for supplement s.: pr s with a period is for son. Don't figure sex by how the name sounds or looks - these names are Russian origin and there I'm totally stumped. And for @LouAnnCrisler1 every batch is a little different so I don't see an s.u. either - give us your batch number so we can take a look 😎

    I didn't want to guess, and that is why I asked! You kind of have to guess since it doesn't specifically say that Nikita, and Ovdotia are the parents given names.

    Ok, I found S. U. in this same project. Entry 43, and 44 for Tatiana near the end of the page. Please help again!
