You can use the app called RecordSeek to add any ancestry record page, or any other webpage, as a family search source to any person in your family Search tree.
A great resource when searching for your family records and adding them to family Search.Download the RecordSeek app and bookmark it to your taskbar, in a way that it is always visible (for easier access).
When you are on a webpage or record, click the record seek app, select family search, edit the source name if you wish, and on the next screen, paste the family search ID For the person to whom you want to attach the source.
to add the source to multiple people, simply repeat the process using each person‘s family search ID individually. This also allows you to customize the source name, eg add their name, for each person.1 -
Once you have all the sources attached in both FamilySearch simply use the compare button from the FamilySearch tree in Ancestry and you can mark the sources you want to pass between the two site, then click save at the bottom.

i’m glad to see this article about the relative benefits of using both Ancestry and Familysearch, and the comments have additional useful contributions, but I believe the suggestion in the article about copying images needs a little moderation: I believe it’s unethical to copy images without the permission of the original posters. It’s OK to reference the same sources, but copying images from one place and pasting them into either Ancestry or Familysearch without the permission of the person who originated the image is unethical.
What I sometimes do in such situations is indicate in the notes with the source that there are excellent images in the referenced location and something of their nature, so that people could follow the link and see for themselves. I also think —I hope I’m right in this —that it’s OK to summarize or paraphrase the contents of an image without actually copying the image.

I'd suggest a more detailed approach to adding an Ancestry source to FamilySearch. Here's what I do:
- Go to Sources, and "Add New Source"
- Copy the Ancestry title to the FamilySearch Source Title. Add a date if appropriate
- From the Share button in Ancestry get a Share link ( [Copy Link] ), and paste it into the Web Page link on the Add Source page
- Copy the text from the Detail tab to Notes
- Copy the text from the Source tab to Citation (I leave off the Description).
This provides all of the info, and a link back to Ancestry for more info if necessary; Ancestry users can connect back to the original source if they like.

I'm confused. In the last paragraph, it states that sources cannot be directly transferred between Ancestry and FamilySearch. But in the video at this link
How Do I Link my Ancestry Tree to FamilySearch? • FamilySearch it shows how to do direct transfers. I'm wondering if the account linking has been discontinued? I haven't been able to find how to do it anywhere.

Thanks Susie. As I started to rewatch the video (it is the same one as I mentioned earlier), I noticed the first words, "If you are a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, you can connect your tree…" I am not a member, so I wonder if that is why I could not connect the accounts. I do remember at one step, there was a church login, at which point I could go no farther. Is that the case - that only church members can connect their FamilySearch and Ancestry accounts? Thanks again, Ruby

Ancestry does have a usage agreement with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints which allows members to use their membership number to link the accounts. If you are not a Member of the Church and, have a paid subscription account with Ancestry.com you can either use the on-line 'Help' in Ancestry.com and/or, contact Customer Service in Ancestry.com, to see how to link or connect both your Ancestry.com Account and your Family Tree or FamilySearch Account together.
I hope this is helpful. If they can't help you, please write me back here and I'll do more digging on my end.
Happy Researching! :)

From what I understand, if a person is not a member of the Church, it is not possible to link Ancestry and FamilySearch accounts to share sources as mentioned in the video. This is the response I received from Ancestry when I asked about linking accounts:
"In this case, Rudy you will need to have the Church of Latter Day Saints account with the lifetime membership to do this. I would suggest you contact them directly to help resolve the issue."
Thanks for your help. But it seems the ability to link accounts is a specific agreement between the Church and Ancestry with extends only to members of the Church. And that does make a certain amount of sense; it just was never made clear in any instructions I found. I should have asked Ancestry directly sooner, but their chat function is a bit maddening… ;>
Thanks again! I love the FamilySearch website. My husband and I visited your library in Salt Lake City last summer and had a wonderful time.

Hi I have tried many times to connect my ancestry account with Family Search. I get all sorts of information about importing but that cannot be done without connection. I have spoken with family search and ancestry advisers but with no luck. Unless I am misreading is it true that you have to have a church account as contrasted with the ordinary free family search account in order to connect. Any assistance appreciated thanks
