Switching entries
I've come across this a time or two lately where someone apparently indexed the second entry on an image first then went back and indexed the first. I understand how this happens as I have come close a few times. My question is - is there a way to switch, do I leave it alone or delete one then add back to make the order correct?

If you have two exact entries, you'll delete the duplicate by going to the trash can icon, clicking "The current entry (Entry X)" and click Delete. You'll be left with only one entry.

The entries are not the same. The issue is, normally you would enter information for the first entry on an image then the second. In this case the indexer recorded the information for the second entry first then went back and recorded the first one. I'm guessing as long as they were both entered it might not matter of the order. I know we normally go from top to bottom, left to right.

Share your batch code and I'll give it a look. Your batch code is at the top of your indexing screen and looks like [MQ2L-7HK]. It is also located under Batch —> About Batch and Help —> Share Batch.

MQGG-XDH. It's the 3rd image
Also, I've come across some over lays that are questionable. The petition for naturalization has most of the information for a person and the overlay is attached at the bottom of the document and relates to port of entry. Indexble?

You can do one of three things in regards to Image 3. You can delete the entry for Francesco, add an entry after Eliza and key Francesco for Entry 2, you can return the batch for reindexing (I don't recommend this since you've already checked 2/3 of the batch). To do that, go to Batch —> Reindex Batch and select "Delete the indexed data." The other option is to re-key the entry in the order it is.
For Image 1, it looks like the Certificate of Arrival is just touching the Declaration at the bottom. I would not consider this an overlay, since all of the required information is shown.0 -
Thank you! I've been doing this for a while but sometimes you just need direction or validation.

There's a fourth option for image 3: leave it as is. Indexes are often "out of order" compared to the image; this doesn't affect their usability.

I agree with Julia. When the image is pulled up, the records will be findable no matter what order they're in. The main thing is to be sure the indvidual records have the information indexed correctly.
