Cross Family Early Welsh Convert Records

William Cross , his wife Ann, and their four sons came to the US on the steamer Hope in 1842. They landed in Nauvoo in April of 1842. I've found a couple of records that verify this but no death date for William. Ann remarried Ormond Butler following William's death. I've found records for Butler in Nauvoo, and he was ordained as a priest about the time that he would have married Ann. I'm hoping a death record for William exists or a marriage record for Ann and Ormond. Do those records exist? If so, where do I look? Any help is most appreciated!

@Kelly Lock_1 Is William Cross KPD1-YRX the guy you are asking about? There are quite a few sources attached for him, his wife, Anna & her second husband Ormond Butler.

The first thought that I have for further research is have you checked for Ormond and Anna's marriage in the Hancock county marriage records or in other nearby counties, including those across the river in Iowa? Second, it sounds like they came with a group of saints, have you searched early diaries for any references to them?

You said you have found records for Ormond Butler in Nauvoo, but have you looked in other nearby localities for William and Ann Cross? They may have lived elsewhere, especially just across the river in Iowa. In my own ancestral line, we have a family that came to Nauvoo in that same time period and then went on to Burlington, Des Moines, Iowa where they lived for nearly 10 years (1842-1849) with several kids getting married there. I would check the dates that you have Ormond actually in Nauvoo with an eye to seeing if he/they might have moved elsewhere for a time.

There are also a number of webinars at RootsTech that talk about searching for early church members. Perhaps one of them might give you an idea of additional research that you might do?

These are a few that I saw:

    Good luck with your research!

Yes! That's him. I have found reference to him in a couple of journals. I'll check your other suggestions, and I'm hoping to research at one of our local LDS libraries for the materials not online. Thank you so much!
