Connect Grandfather Adam Elgert Sr to Friedrich / Fryderyk Elgert Family
One of your exceptional colleagues provided the complete translations of the recently found Birth Record and earlier found Marriage Record of my grandfather Adam Elgert. Results support that his father was Friedrich / Fryderyk Elgert. This is providing the foundation for his associated Tree (my current results in Ancestry.com are incorrect). I am looking to document the familial connections, i.e., to the Friedrich / Fryderyk Elgert Family. (They were Ethnic Germans living in Poland / Russian Empire.)
Some pertinent background info: My parents, and I visited Louis (Ludwik) Elgert and his wife Gertrude (Ebersole) Elgert at their home in Dayton, Ohio during the summer of 1954. My parents took notes and much later in their life (and mine), they responded to my questions about the visit. They stated that Louis informed them, that another brother Michael Elgert lived nearby (the Dayton, Ohio area); and important information about another brother Fryderyk Wilhelm Elgert. The Michael in Louis’s Obituary, is another uncle of my father, but more important, a brother of my grandfather Adam Elgert, Sr. IMPORTANT to notice that in Louis Elgert’s Obituary, it lists Louis's "...four brothers, Fred, a.k.a. Fryderyk Wilhelm Elgert of Cincinnati, Michael of Dayton, and Gustav and Adam of Germany" Adam = Adam Elgert Sr, my grandfather! I am building the associated Tree with this information. (I am a Common DNA Ancestor of Fryderyk Wilhelm, Louis, Michael, and Adam.) I have Birth Records for Fryderyk Wilhelm and Louis both born in Dobiegniewo, , Russia Poland, while Adam’s birth location is different Gorki; however, the next child born after Louis was in Domb Wielki, Russia Poland. ALSO, in Louis’s Ohio Marriage License, next to Father’s name, he writes Fred Elgert.
The are few records that may “complete” the immediate group of people/documents.

2) I have Michael Elgert’s birth info as 10 Sep 1881 Poltz, , Russia Poland (now called Plock, Poland), but no Birth Record. Poltz is split by the Vistula River. He likely was born on the west side of the river, locating his birth place close to where his older brother Adam was born. But, I am guessing.) Any ideas? Should I initially look in Szukaj w Archiwach at Białotarsk, płockie… 1881? Help!
3) Adam Elgert’s father’s (Friedrich/Fryderyk) birth information is 8 Dec 1846, Neustadt Thorn, Thorn, West Preussen (West Prussia), Deutschland (Germany) / Poland, but no Birth Record. (It would supply Friedrich’s father’s name?) Where to look? I thought this region would have been called Poland in 1846?
I do have his 1870 Marriage Record (written in Russian, needs translation) of Fryderyk Wilhelm Elgert to Adolfina Jabs (town names in left margin indicate their residents as Dobiegniewo and Domb Wielki, respectively), Nowa Wies, Wloclawek, Kujawien-Pommern, Kujawsko, Pomorskie, Russia Poland (does the document name his father? My hints suggest it is Michal Elgert.), weblink is:

Friedrich’s wife was Adolfina Jabs’ 1850 Birth Record, Dab Wielki, Poland (written in Polish, needs translation; all her associated Ancestry Family Trees spell her surname as Jabs, while it looks like Jops), weblink is:

Thank you for providing all the information. Since you need translations in Russian and Polish, I recommend joining the Russian Empire Research group and the Poland Research group.
After you have the translations, you may find that the research help you are requesting can be answered in just one of the groups. Good luck with your continued research.
