Does merging a record, also carry over any Memories and other documents?
I'm in the process of bringing to fruition many years worth of work my father did, in which he digitized decades worth of family history information, photos, etc, onto hard drives. He died in 2010, before Family Search was what it is today, so he never had a chance to ensure that all of his work didn't get annulled in a freak hard drive failure. So, that's where I come in. I have decades worth of digital assets, for both deceased as well as living. I want to know about how FamilySearch handles the merging of individuals, specifically the Memories of the profiles which are "merged away" into the correct Person.
I want to create profiles for each of my living relatives on Family Search, and upload all these memories and documents, to ensure the digitized assets are not lost. Then, when these individuals pass away, the profiles of these Living people will need to be switched to Deceased, and merged with these peoples' official profiles that will exist due to Church records, ordinances, etc.
I recently did this for my grandfather, but it didn't seem like the Memories on the Person I had created years ago, were merged into the Person that he exists as now on Family Search. Can anyone confirm whether this is expected behavior?
