Having never had a "famous relative" by FS's definitions, I don't actually know the answer to this question: are any of the people on their list still living, or is it all deceased famous people?

But in any case, as far as I know, no, the general public cannot suggest famous people for the database. (The topic often comes up in discussions of the U.S. — or at least English-speaking — bias of the existing list.)

Since my maternal branch has been in the USA since before the USA was founded, I have a sizable list of Famous Relatives. A few are ones I have proven by independent research. A few make me shake my head. None are living.

If we follow the premise of FamilySearch's Family Tree, we cannot see anyone living except those we have entered. Logic would indicate that no living person should be on the Famous Relatives chart.
