Yes, had the same issue all morning (GMT).

This is happening to me with every FS browser tab that I open. It started today. This is happening on the website (using Windows 10, Chrome) and also on the Android FamilyTree mobile app.

Yes, I've had it since late yesterday (22 Aug).

I see that too on my end as well. I was going to post something on that but you already did.

For the last couple days in FamilySearch I have received an indicator (red dot) that a new Chat is available, but upon checking there is nothing new. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
I have signed out/in, restarted my computer and deleted cookies, but it is still occurring. I'll open the Chat window, then close it, but upon moving to another profile or screen then the red dot appears again.
Anyway, let me know if that's a known problem that is being resolved. Thanks for your help!

I started seeing this yesterday afternoon, but it seems to have been fixed sometime in the past hour. Maybe. Knock on wood.
(I was hoping it was fixed this morning, because lo and behold, I actually did have a new message, but then it went back to having the red dot all the time. But it has now gone away. Here's hoping it hasn't fallen over to the other side of the horse, that is, it'll still come on when there's something unread.)

I am having the same issue with chat, where the red dot shows up by the Chat icon, saying that there are new chats available. But when I click on the Chat, then there are no new messages. The resulting window says "This section empty" for the Unread and Family Group sections. The Threads section also says "This section empty" but also has a VIew More button. When I click on View More nothing happens. I should have threads from existing chats from earlier in the year, but don't see them anywhere. Also I tried to send a chat message to another user, but got an error message there too. I did not see these issues in the August timeframe when this chain was started because I hadn't been researching then. Wanted to start back up now, only to find this chat problem. Help! Thanks.

@Ann Holladay, this shouldn't be the source of the problem if you've previously used Chat, but just to make sure, check your profile for a birthdate. If there isn't one (or it's too recent), then Chat will be disabled.
A couple of people on a Hungarian genealogy forum wrote last week that they were getting the persistent dot. They haven't posted since, so I don't know if the problem is still ongoing or not. The only suggestion I could come up with for them was to use the Feedback tab on the home page to report the problem. I have no idea whether it'll help, but it can't hurt.

Anyone else having trouble with Chat today?
I can't access my messages, including one I hadn't read before, and am getting the "Oops…" page. Tried in both Chrome and Firefox (cookies deleted, etc.), so still obviously an ongoing glitch. Can't close the box, so having to close the profile page in order to continue.

I was just about to point you to the other, newer, thread, but I see you found that one. Still slow for me.

I have had the problem with chat for months now. Please someone correct this!

I eventually managed to respond to a message yesterday, which had been sent to me on the 9th. I wonder if others can confirm the (more recently reported) problem now appears to have been resolved?

It has mostly worked for me, Paul. I have received and sent messages without too many issues. I've had a few error messages - mostly on opening the chat window - but those have cleared up on a refresh of the tab.

If you are still having problems with the chat will you please give me details of what exact problem you are having? Screenshots would help, along with browser information and anything else you think may help us recreate this problem.

I haven't had a problem today, @Ashlee C. I'm running Windows 10, and mostly Chrome, both fully updated. A couple of times yesterday, I had an error message on opening the chat feature. It disappeared too quickly to grab a screenshot. Paraphrasing as best as I can remember - This is unexpected. We can't open your chat. Try again later.

@Ashlee C. The error stayed long enough for me to capture this time.
