How to merge an additional child into a family
I try to add a child by merging a duplicate parent, but the system will NOT let me add the child. There is another child with a similar but different name and it will only give me the option to delete the child I already have in my tree and add the different child. I liked the old version MUCH better. This is very frustrating. Please tell me how I can add this child by merging rather than having to just type in all of his information and create another duplicate. Thank you for your help.

Perhaps you can change the name of the child you are adding, then add the child, and when it's done you can change the name to the correct one.

If everyone in that family (parents and child) is deceased, if you share the profile identifier (PID), we can try to help.

You've implied that something has changed in the process, but I'm not aware of any such change. It should all work the same as usual.
When you're merging, the duplicate's children and other family members are automatically brought over to the right-hand side. You can move them back if you want to remove the relationships, but the default is to keep them.
Your description of deleting a child to add a different one must be a misunderstanding, as we can very seldom delete profiles in the collaborative tree. We can remove relationships, though, which makes me think that perhaps you're mistakenly trying to use an Edit (pencil) button to add a child?
