I can not find the year of the death records in the batch that I am indexing
I am indexing a batch ref 105767833_00378. These are death records. It is not possible to detemine the year of the deaths. I have been looking at previous and later images that is possible to see, I cannot detemine the year. I can see the day and the month. I am sure that the reference information of the film will show the year but in the indexing mode I can not access these information.
Any ideas what to do?

If the year cannot be found, or is missing, you will mark that field <BLANK>.

Surely indexing should be a means to an end activity? Having an end result in a collection relating to deaths which does not include such a basic item as the year of death is surely a complete waste of the indexer's time and effort?
I'd suggest returning such batches untouched, as their lack of meaningful content once they reach the FamilySearch database is only going to cause frustration to researchers. Why would I want to know my relative was born on 31 October without having a clue about which year?

It's not a waste because there is no death year. Saying that is the same thing as saying Nats are a waste because there's no spouse. Indexers are providing a valuable tool for researchers to find their family. Death records usually have the age in them. The researcher can deduce the death year from simple mathematics. There is zero reason to return batches because a field is not there. Vincente, work the batches like normal, just mark the death year blank.

Using the batch reference, I assumed that it was the filmNo_imageNo and I can see from where the images were on the ones that I could see from the batch. I search catalogs for the location and deaths and look for the film number. I found it and the film reference indicated Jun to Dec 1926 and I was able to scan the top images of the film that confirmed the dates. So this time I was able to index images with complete dates.
It should be possible to display the origin of the batches to find reference of the document in the indexing activity screens. To avoid searching all over as a detective that can be discouraging for the iindexers.0 -
Vicente, we only index what's on the images in our batch, (and sometimes the reference images)… we don't use other sources for our indexing. That's why our instructions are to mark as Blank when we can't see any dates. We're not supposed to be detectives when we index. That's for those who are researching the people in the records to do. We indexers are simply entering the information that's on the images in our indexing batch. The person who reviews your work won't see any dates on the images, so will most likely mark them Blank, anyway.
