Is this a mess up? Should I still enter New York?

    Leave it blank for now. @Ashlee C., could you please escalate this?

    Sounds correct. I will enter the full Record Place when I combine both records.

    Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I have escalated the issue. We'll see what they say. Thanks for your patience while we work towards a resolution.

    @Ashlee C.

    could you please also look the bottom of that Petition's example and clarify why it says the OOA on the image should be indexed as a separate entry when the example image of the OOA clearly has an overlay on the bottom of the OOA

    thank you

    @BarK1 The example for the OOA has been corrected. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

    @Harmon, James Bartlett Here is the answer we received about the place name in this project:

    Some of the records do not list a "Record Place" or the place that the record was made, so that field should be marked blank in those cases. The record place should not be assumed from the place of residence or from the project title.

    sorry to ask about this again, but the example for the Petition takes the date from the line that says the Deceleration and Certificate of Arrival were filed. On this image it is an earlier date than the one at the bottom in the Witness section. There is no place in the filing date entry but there is a place listed lower in the Witness section.

    I know we sometimes use the date from the Witness entry, and I am still unsure if the Witness section has the date we need do we then use the place that follows the date or do we mark the place blank on Petitions like this?

    So, what is the correct date and place entry for image 2?

    The date used in the Affidavits of Petitioner and Witness section is your record date, which is 10/5/1928 in this case. The record place is not indexed on Petitions.

    Also, the indexer missed the Oath of Allegiance in Image 1.

    I wonder why the example of the Petition doesn't use the Witness date and instead shows to use the upper date on the filing line

    in the example the dates are the same but my current batch does have different dates and the Witness one is the later date so I was inclined to use it

    I'm not sure why the first date is used, as it refers to when the Declaration was filed, which is a wholly different step, but the example has the same date for both.

    I'm going to tag @Ashlee C. on this. Is the DEC date the record date or was this a flub?

    Illinois Nats Part E has the same instruction on the Petition. Maybe New York wasn't a flub. I go back on the first part of my answer. Use the earlier date for now.

    @Ashlee C.

    hi, could you please look at the Petition example and see if the date example could be moved from the line that says it is for the Deceleration of Intention and Certificate of Arrival filing and move the example date to the bottom in the Witness section?

    And if the date from the Witness section is used, could the place found right there too be used? If so, it would be most helpful if the example added that. In reviewing I see there is a lot of confusion about the place entry still with many putting in the place right by the date they just used instead of marking it blank which honestly kind of does make sense as there is a clear place recorded.

    In the example the two dates are the same.

    In the batch below there are two different dates for the Petition. Which would you say to use?

    The record place is a result of indexers either not reading the PI or simply not caring. It happens in every project 😐️

    I didn't know this New York project was almost done so probably not necessary to clarify instructions

    Illinois has about half left to review so maybe the Petition date can be looked at and clarified

    Thanks
