Having trouble returning/submitting a particular batch.
My mother (101 years old) has a batch open that she can neither return nor submit. Both of those options are greyed out in the Batch drop down menu. I've tried to help remotely by sharing the batch (MQ2X-JQM), so I've seen what she sees, but we cannot figure out what to do so that she can go to another project.

She will have to complete the batch or send it back by going to her landing page —→Manage, then clicking on the batch and then selecting Return (X) Batch(es).

There are empty fields that need to be deleted. I went to the end of the batch; there are 300 fields, but most are empty.

Thank you for your replies. Yes, Alne, there are empty fields because the image is so faded that she cannot read them adequately. Thus her desire to return the batch. And, erutherford, I failed to include the information that when she attempts to close the batch by using the big black left-pointing arrow in the icon bar, she gets a window that says that her session is about to expired. She can get rid of that message by clicking on her screen which takes her back to the batch, but it is a repeating loop that I do not know how to help her out of.

That happens when the screen sits idle for a certain period of time.

I am well aware that that message comes up when the screen has been idle. She clicks on the screen, the message goes away, but it still lets her enter information into her current batch. So, the program does not sign her out when she's been gone too long. There does not seem to be a way out of this particular batch.
I would run over and help her in person, but she's about a thousand miles away. And it sounds like we've exhausted your suggestions as well. So, no worries. We'll try to get some other boots on the ground at her computer. Thank you so much for your input. Really appreciate it! Keep up the good work. :)

@TrudySumsion1, with the batch open, what happens if she clicks "Batch" at the top left and chooses "Return Batch"?
Alternately, what happens if she opens FamilySearch in another tab and goes to Get Involved - Indexing?

Thank you, Julia. This is the point of the question. When she clicks on "Batch", "Return Batch" is greyed out, so is not a usable option. So is "Submit Batch". And opening another tab is a little complicated for her, but I could walk her through it. Her computer is set up to automatically open in the opening page of Indexing so that she can easily find "Find a Project". But we can try opening another tab. Thanks.

If "new tab" isn't in her skill set, perhaps have her try clicking the tree at the top left of the batch? That should take her to her FS home page, where she can try clicking Get Involved - Indexing to get to her usual opening page.

@TrudySumsion1 I am just impressed that 101 years of age she is willing to index!!! Kudos to her!

Thank you all for your suggestions. I did walk her through opening a new instance of the browser, and that worked. I told her to just leave that batch where it was in her list and not open it and it would go away. I left her selecting a new project. And yes, at 101, she is still doing a very good job. She shares batches with me when she has a question, and inevitably, she has been doing everything right, give or take a correction here and there. She's a wonder.
