New Fan Chart colours not displaying correctly.
When trying the 'new' Fan Chart with 7 generations and Birth Place selected, the colours do not display correctly. On the 'old' Fan Chart they do. Up to 1801 my birth places are England (not UK). After 1801 they are 'England, United Kingdom'. On the old chart this works well, and the key to the colours reads correctly, and clicking on the country name in the key highlights the correct areas. On the new chart however, the colours have been reversed i.e. UK (after 1801) is coloured as 'England' and England (before 1801) is coloured as United Kingdom which is incorrect. However, clicking on the country's name in the key, the correct areas are highlighted. I am forced therefore to revert back to the 'old' chart. Please fix.

I, too, see errors in the birthplace color legend. In my case, “United States” is correct with a light blue, but my ancestors born in British Colonial America are colored with a salmon color which appears in the legend as “Canada.” My lone Canadian ancestor appears as a crimson color which does not show up in the legend at all. Finally, those whose birthplaces are unknown are in white which is correctly shown in the legend.
This is while viewing the website, not the app, using Safari in iPadOS.

It's correct for me and my spouse, but mine is nearly fully monochrome (everyone besides me is either Hungary or Unknown), and my spouse only has Hungary, Austria, and Unknown. This is Win10, Firefox current.

When I display 7 generations I have 1 solitary individual in dark pink which the key correctly identifies as 'Ireland'. There are a few in white for 'Unknown'.
Everything else pre-1801 is light blue which the key identifies as 'United Kingdom'. This is wrong, these profiles are all marked 'Scotland'.
Everything post-1801 is light pink which the key identifies as 'Scotland'. These profiles are all marked 'Scotland, United Kingdom', but these should be the 'United Kingdom' items.
As @CrumpTim says, when you select light blue on the key it highlights the light pink profiles on the chart, and vice versa. ie. it highlights the correct profiles for the text in the key, but the colours don't match.
Things change when I drop the chart to 6 generations. Everything post-1801 is in light blue, correctly marked in the key as 'United Kingdom'. Everything pre-1801 is either light pink (Scotland) or that single dark pink (Ireland) but these are completely missing from the key.
On my wife's chart everything displays correctly at 7 generations. But at 6 generations her 'Ireland' and 'Scotland(pre-1801)' ancestors' colours are swapped

I reported a few weeks ago that the birth country colors were not displaying correctly in my beta fan, but they are correct now.

Why, oh why do you have to keep changing things on Family Search??? Why can't you just leave things alone??? Many people are tired of doing their family history and time and again find that things have changed again. That is not what genealogy is about. It is about being able to quickly enter in new information as quickly as possible so the Temple work can soon be done, not having to figure out how things have changed again. Programmers may like to keep their job and come up with new ideas, but that doesn't make it easier and with this pedigree change it obviously doesn't work. I have a color print of my pedigree chart that was printed in the Library with 9 generations with all the different shades of yellow, red, green and blue colors and is framed and hanging in my office whare my computer is. It looks wonderful, so why, oh why change it. Why waist so much time and money doing something that is of no importance! Just please leave it alone!!!
And another thing that is causing a an awful lot of trouble is the changes made to the catalog, which used to be nearly perfect!
The catalog has changed and that is the last thing we need. More than 125 years the catalogers have done incredible work to get the towns names, district (if necessary), the district, province, state the way it was and or is, and now it is a mess. I am from the Netherlands and have worked for the Family History Department for 31 years and after retiring volunteered for another 10 years. The one thing I have of and on told that the name of my country is "THE KINGDOM OF THE NETHERLANDS", or just "The Netherlands," not Netherlands!!! But now it often doesn't even give the proper names but English translations. I am sorry, but people weren't born in The Hague, they were born in 's-Gravenhage as it was always referred to when somebody would spell it in English. And why does the catalogue allow Dutch cities to be spelled in French, German and English, but not in Dutch?
The whole idea is to teach people the CORRECT spelling of every location! How is it going to help when people need to go to the catalogue to find a film of a Dutch city and type in the English name, but then find out the REAL name of the town and having no clue what that means. We are supposed to TEACH people the right places. Sorry, but the Church is NOT an American church, but an INTERNATIONAL church, which includes having respect for those who come from countries that have their own language.
Sorry for all these negative things, but even when I was still working there, the programmers often wouldn't listen to us, even though we were hired as consultants because we knew what we were doing and teaching the patrons how to do their genealogy. So, please listen to the real consultants and definitely the patrons as well. Keep it simple! Wonderful things have been added through the years, like being able to add pictures, actual copies of documents, telling stories, even videos. Those are truly great additions nobody would like to do without. Thank you very, very much for that!
Again, so sorry, but I just had to voice my opinion and concerns. I have even heard from former co-workers who have quit working in the Library as since covid so many things changed that for years we had prevented from happening and making it unpleasant to stay. Maybe, just maybe those in charge should finally learn to listen to those who actually know what they are doing.
In the meantime, thank you for the good and wonderful things you also do and asking us to give our opinions, so please, listen. God bless all of you, this is HIS work and we love it.
