Can someone visit a Familysearch Center?

Hello Everyone,

Recently, I have been trying to access this collection to find a will in 1825 for Bryan K(i)ernan but have found out that you must visit a familysearch center in order to access the images. I ask if someone could assist me with this matter and would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Lucas Kernan

@LukeKernan Are you around? I'm at my Affiliate Library, and I have access to the collection. I don't see any Kiernan or Kernan wills listed for 1825.

There is an annual will calendar in alphabetical order by surname of Testator. When I did not find a reference in 1825, I checked 1826, but nothing there. Then I back-tracked to 1824, but I found nothing there, either.

Sorry not to have better news for you. If there is something else you would like me to check, I'll be happy to try.

I think I see what you were hoping to find, based on the Ireland, Diocesan and Prerogative Wills & Administrations Index. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:WGHB-F3N2 That's not the same set of records as Irish estate duty wills, 1821-1857.
Most of the pre-1858 probate records were sadly destroyed in the Four Courts fire in 1922. The indexes are all that survived for the majority of those records. See https://www.nationalarchives.ie/article/testamentary-record/

In the vast majority of cases, the only evidence of the will is the entry in the calendar; in a minority of cases, there are exact copies in the will books. The actual documents however were destroyed in 1922 during the Civil War.

The Microfilm of original record can be found at the Public Record Office, Belfast .

    The website is https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/campaigns/public-record-office-northern-ireland-proni

You might want to search the site or possibly write to them asking for a copy of the will:

The address to write to is:

Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI)
    2 Titanic Boulevard
    BELFAST
    BT3 9HQ

That collection is available at Affiliate Libraries as well as Family Search Centers. I go to mine at least once a week. If you can wait until next week, I'll see what I can do.
