Patrick Carty and Annie Larkin
Patrick was born in Sligo, Ireland 5/12/1873.
His parents were Patrick Carty and Bridget Ryly.
In the 1900 census he is living with Jane Manahan age 28, widowed, and her children. He is listed as her cousin. I have no other info on him.
Annie Larkin age 30 born NY 1869 died NY 1936. She supposedly married a William Fleming, and had 2 sons. I have no record of that marriage or info on her children.
Any help is appreciated

I'm assuming this is the census in question, as it mentions Patrick, Jane and Annie? https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MSNZ-2SD
It looks like a user accidentally attached Patrick and Annie as children of their cousin.
I noticed some things from the census:
1) Jane is listed as male. That record was recently attached to a John Monahan, which may or may not be correct.
2) Patrick's birth month is recorded as August. How sure are you that he was born in May to those parents?
3) Patrick's occupation is a salesman. Is this perhaps his death record, then? https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2WCZ-JNS
4) Annie's father was born in New York and her mother in Ireland, meaning her mother is probably the connection to Patrick.
5) Patrick immigrated in 1895. That record could provide more information.
I also found this 1905 census that has a Patrick Carty, Annie Larkin and a William "Femmell" in the household. Annie is listed as Patrick's sister. Could "Femmell" possibly be Flemming?: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SPN2-54P
Hope something in all of that helps. :)

I did comment, edited to add another piece of information, and then it said it was pending approval. Hopefully it'll be back up soon and didn't just get deleted. I'll write it out again if it did. I might have found some leads.

- the name could be John/a relative had told me Patrick and Annie lived with a cousin Jane manahan/her maiden name could be Mulry/there are some public trees for the Manahan family
- Patrick's parent info is correct. The same relative did extensive research of Ireland records.
- Parents are wrong on death record.
- Both Annie's parents were born in Ireland, James Larkin 1830-1898 and Mary Flannigan 1837-1900
- I'll look at immigration record.
- The Flemmell family is not them. Thank you…

Do you know if Margaret Carty is Patrick's sister? It looks like they have the same parents and were born in County Sligo. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/G822-C32
If so, do you think this is her 1900 census? Interestingly, her immigration date was also 1895.

It's too bad there were errors on Patrick's census. That probably includes writing male for Jane, as I do think it's she who is listed there, not John.
Have you looked at the early 1900s NY directories? That may prove a good supplement to the census record.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any obituaries. If it helps though, I did find this clipping that seems to show Jeanette (Jane) was a Mulry. https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-sun/73521917/

Yes, they were brother and sister. Margaret was my great grandmother. She died 1928 in NY. Never knew they immigrated the same year.
James' last name is spelt Larkin. Yes, that is the family in the 1900 census. The daughter is Marie (aka Mary) Agnes Larkin.
Wow, thank you for the article. I'll look at family search in a bit.
I appreciate your help, another set of eyes helps.

Looks like the person who clipped that article has many for the Manahan/Mulry family. Here's Jane's obituary which says that her parents are James Mulry and Eliza Byrne: https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-new-york-times-jeannette-mulry-obitu/31661449/
In regards to Annie, do you know the date in 1936, and which borough in NY she died? She may have been at the same place on the 1930 census or NYC directories, which could provide some clues.

According to the information I was given by relatives, J Coughlin & Sons Undertakers, 66 Gouverneur ST, NY handled the funeral. Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY/ I added her to Find A Grave. The date on receipt from funeral home was 12/2/1936 so I guess she died late November? The name on receipt was Ann Fleming, her married name. I never found her obit or marriage record. There is an Ann & William Fleming in 1930 census in Long Island/age dates don't match

Hmm… That's very interesting, because there's a record I was wondering about that fits that. The issue is, the names of the parents don't match Larkin, but more closely aligned to the Carty family. Could it be so many of the details on the certificate were mistaken?

The FamilySearch link with the same data is being very buggy, but I'll link the search page. It's the top result.

Seems reasonable, but Annie was born in NY

The burial date and undertaker matches…very confusing…her maiden name was Larkin…I'll keep looking base on what you discovered

The parents names are so similar to Patrick's, too. Was there a Carty sibling named Anna? Could that death record be for Anna Carty, not Annie Larkin?
I agree that two people named Anna/Annie Fleming with the same undertaker, cemetery and burial date would be unusual. William is also the name of that Anna's son on the bottom of the document... Definitely a puzzle.

I just found something else… If this is Margaret (Carty) Larkin's 1905 census, look at her neighbors—Patrick and Annie Fleming. One of their sons is William, like on the certificate.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SP65-DZ9
That certificate is referenced on Annie (McCarthy) Fleming's page, too.
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/KH6X-KSZ
I couldn't find any other 1936 death certificates in NYC that were close to that name and burial date. I would definitely double check about the burial receipt that it's for Annie Larkin. It seems like it's pointing towards the Carty line, but maybe there's another explanation.

Oh wow…can you send me the link to th 1905 census, I don't have Ancestry right now.

If you go to the census image from there, that should hopefully work. The direct link wouldn't go through.
