US Louisiana Naturalization Records help

In these batches are two images. One shows the back page on the left and the right page is covered by a piece of paper that has a stamp on it. There is very little information except for a name. The second document has a Declaration of Intention and Petition for Naturalization form with pretty much all of the extractable data on it. I am finding that after I have entered the extractable data that I am having to reenter the data 2 to 3 more times before it says that I have passed and can submit the batch. Is this normal or am I missing something? Nothing in the instructions is explaining this.

Most projects today come with a pre-set number of entries. You will need to delete the other entries if there is only one record per image. To do that click on the trash can icon on your toolbar. The dialog box that comes up gives you two choices, Delete The current entry (Entry X), which is the default choice. The other choice is  All blank entries. If you have filled out the other entries, you'll have to go to that entry and click the default choice (and yes, you will have to do this for every extra entry that has data in it). If the extra entries are blank, you'll choose All blank entries. Once the extra entries are deleted, you will be ready to submit the batch.

As for the first image, if the topmost document is an indexable document, you index that document only. If it is not indexable (like a blank page or a Certificate of Arrival), you will not index the image. In those cases, the image will be marked as No, No Extractable Data.

The Declaration and Petition, if for the same person, will be combined and the record number and record date will come from the Petition. This will include the age of the applicant and all variations of the applicant's name. If the Declaration and Petition are for different people, they will be indexed as two separate entries. From Field Help/Record Date:

Some images have more than 1 document on a single image, and all of the documents relate to the same person. In this case, combine the information from all of the documents on the image into the entries you index in the data entry area, using the most complete version of the information.

You can access Field Help anytime by clicking on the purple question mark above every field.

The places in the instructions that explain how to get the correct number of entries for your image include:

What to Remember about This Project, in bullet point six:

    • See "Number of Entries per Image" in "General Indexing Guidelines" below for instructions on adding additional entries or deleting unused entries when needed.

General Indexing Guidelines, "Number of Entries per Image":

    • After you have indexed all of the available records on the image, delete any extra or unused entries in the data entry area.

I'm curious: where were you looking, that you didn't find either of these?
