find out how the enumeration districts were assigned in the 1900 US Census in Oklahoma. any ideas?
I am trying to find the physical spot my ancestors lived. The 1900 census in Oklahoma in the Indian territory lists the Township and Range. So I am wondering if the ED# is the Section Number. my family's ED# is 34 so it could be…. anyone know how to find that part of the Census taker's instructions? I googled it, no luck so far.

All the census enumerators' instructions are online, but I don't think you'll find that is part of the instructions to enumerators. The set-up of the EDs is done before the enumerators are involved.
The ED maps are here:

@SusanHansen1 Did your ancestors own land? If not, who are their neighbors on the census? Look for their land records and find section #'s. The Full Text Search of land deeds would be a good place to start. Also, try a land patent search which—should you find an ancestor or a neighbor, will pinpoint the location on the map. Clicking on "Related Documents" will show you everyone who lived in a particular section.

Un fortunately they did not own land the census said they were renting.
That's a really good idea I didn't know I could search for that maybe I'll be able to use it with a different ancestor
