This German book is supposed to have 4 volumes: https://libcat.familysearch.org/Record/3748092

Catalogue says its in the Family History Library - B2 Floor Book - call # 943.43 B4sb ser. S no. 30 v. 1. Can someone please confirm if there are actually 4 separate volumes? Does each have an index? I believe the index in Vol 1 identifies 6 people who came to America from Offenbach an der Queich and 1 person from Offenbach a[m] Glan.

If the other 3 volumes have indexes, can someone please let me know which identify people from Offenbach a[m] Glan? And who they are? And when they died? And which volume?

Only volumes 1 and 2 have been published, and it appears that the FamilySearch Library only holds volume 1. Volumes 3 and 4 are scheduled to be published July 2024 and October 2024 respectively.

Have you checked WorldCat.org to see if the book(s) are in a library near you? https://search.worldcat.org/title/980600203?oclcNum=980600203

Also, check the online catalog of your local library as many libraries are not members of WorldCat.

There do appear to be four separate volumes, although I think the FamilySearch Library only has Volume 1

Description of Volume 1 which is for the period 1884- 1897 https://www.prfk.org/produkt/in-amerika-verstorbene-pfaelzer/

    Volume 2 1898-1903

    Volume 3 1904- 1909 https://buchhandlung-buchner.buchkatalog.at/product/4099276460851401671

    Volume 4 1910-1917

    A description

In the German-language New York newspaper 'Der Pfälzer in Amerika', a whole panorama of refugee fates, of hardship and deprivation, hope and disappointment, reconstruction and prosperity unfolds in numerous obituaries. Life stories that are as exciting as they are laconic, grotesque and often enough tragicomic. An indispensable source edition on emigration to America, on American and Palatine history, for German and American historians, family researchers

When I ask "Can someone please confirm if there are actually 4 separate volumes?" I am hoping someone will verify what is actually on the shelf in the FamilySearch library on floor B2. I am trying to find Volumes 2, 3, and 4 somewhere in the world where I can determine if they may be worth consulting. Please let me know if you can visit the library to respond to my questions.

@Gary Knecht The majority of the members of this community are scattered around the world. Very few are in or near SLC. That's why I asked if you had checked for a library near you for copies of the book(s). We are other users of the FS website, not staff.

I live 2 miles from one of the top genealogy libraries in the US, and I checked their catalog before I responded. Unfortunately, my library catalog does not list those volumes. In this thread, you'll see I'm going to my library this week to help someone with a similar request.

    Best of luck.
