Seaman ...New England
I just indexed a batch of Seaman New England (or similar title) It asks for birth information. If you look in the project instructions it shows using the last birthday for the year. Example…name 38 on june 1 1918 date of record is July 5 1918 so they could not have been born in 1918. Can someone please look at this and correct this mistake…I know I am probably in the wrong group but I can never find who to contact…

The chances of the PI getting changed aren't great—I can recall only one project where the PI was changed after an issue was brought up—but I'll tag @Ashlee C. For now, index what the PI states, whether or not it's wrong.

Hi. I think that's the date of his last birthday. So it says [number] years old on [date] 1918. So in 1918 on his birthday, he turned [number] years old. You have his birth month and day but not the year. I think you should mark the year blank although correct me if I'm wrong.

That's not what the example says. It literally has the birth year as 1918, even though it shows he was 45. Until the example is fixed, you will index what you see. Maybe if there are enough wrong years or if there are enough comments, the example will change. Until then, index 1918 (or whatever year it shows) as the birth year.
