People being entered as deceased when still alive.
Weekly I am finding not one, but several people, who have been born within the last 50 years who are marked deceased with no death dates. In many cases, I have talked directly with the person who has been marked deceased to be sure they are still alive before I have them marked alive. I have also messaged one individual who was entering people as deceased. The person indicated that they always enter them deceased because they want everyone to see them. It is disturbing to be looking through FamilySearch and find yourself deceased as one of my friends did a short time ago. There are already alerts when entering a name to help everyone not to enter a name unless they have a death date. What else can be done to discourage this practice? It is becoming a very common practice.

On the right under Tools, scroll down to Report Abuse.

If you do use the Report Abuse option, be prepared to supply specific details and jump through a few hoops. The first reply will likely be a generic "that's not abuse and try talking to the person" even when you've already said that you tried that. You may need to request escalation to management and repeat yourself a few times.

This surely breaks Data Protection legislation in addition to disrespecting the privacy of the living people concerned, so is a clear case of abuse (ignorance is no excuse, and I anyway find it difficult to believe anyone is that unaware of basic information security in 2024).

Well, I must say, I also used to enter people as dead who were in fact still living. This happened on, mostly US Citizens, where I found public records with birth dates and so on. It took me a while and after beeing contacted by a relative of one of this still living person's, to realize myself that my European background was the cause.
Because of Privacy Laws in Europe, it's nearly impossible to find any information in public / governmental records if the person ist still alive. I've come to realize, that this e. g. is not true for the USA. Until then, I wrongly assumed, that in finding information, like a birth date, the person must have been deceased.
