I have come across a batch of Mayo, Ireland indexing. The headings say these are obituaries, but I believe the records are actually births and baptisms. I can't find the film number or page number, but the date is February 1841, Obituary - Parish of Kilmore Moy, Counties of Mayo and Sligo (Catholic Parish Registers). If I am correct in my conclusions that these are baptisms and births instead of obituaries as the headings indicate, how do I proceed in indexing this page? I expect that this error happened simply because there were no blank forms available to record births and baptisms on the birth and baptisms form, so the registrar simply used what he had available - the obituary form. I don't want to record these records as a death when they are actually a baptism and a birth. What do you think I should do with this?

@cathryn louise MQ6T-IMJ is an invalid batch code —-usually a batch code looks like this XXXX-WW6

I don't see anything about a batch code. But I do see an image name - 104500058_02535, and the batch ID is MQ6T-1MJ

@cathryn louise Here's a sample batch code as it shows on my screen with the batch code in bold

Ireland, Dublin—Church Records, 1740–1913 [Part D] [MQ6L-P6K] I'm sorry I don't know why your batch won't come up in Shared Batch but I did look at your original question again from June 6 and I think moderator @Ashlee C. might be able to help better than I, so I have tagged her

I'm not an expert in indexing, so someone please step in and correct me if I'm wrong. The project instructions for Ireland, Mayo—Church Records, 1740–1880 say: "Index all baptism, birth, christening, marriage, marriage intention, marriage banns, death, and burial records. This project contains mostly baptism and marriage records."

So if these are birth records you'll mark them as such and index them.

I've never shared a batch of indexing, but I think you can copy and paste the URL from the batch and we'll be able to view what you are seeing.
