    This can be done.

    1. Create a gedcom file in Ancestry. See https://support.ancestry.co.uk/s/article/Uploading-and-Downloading-Trees
    2. Upload your file to FamilySearch. See How do I upload my GEDCOM file?
    3. The file is now within the Pedigree Resource File and not part of Family Tree. If you want to transfer information into Family Tree, see How do I copy information from my GEDCOM file into Family Tree?
    4. Be aware that, depending on where your family comes from, chances are that many of your names will already be in Family Tree, especially the older ones. Many users complain when people indiscriminately create duplicates of existing records, often via gedcom files.
    5. Also, when using View, the system at present is weak in identifying potential matches with people already in Family Tree. Thus, it is quite likely that, if you add a person for which a match has not been found, when you look at that new person in Family Tree, a potential duplicate may exist. In that situation, you can either merge the records (assuming they are the same) or delete your newly created record.
    6. The need to try to avoid creating duplicates is why we strongly recommend taking your time over using the View feature. There is no requirement to complete the View stage in one go. You can take as long as you wish.
