I am new to this project. I understand this particular document, however, I am uncertain if I indexed line 17 correctly. Could someone please check it for me?

Huh. This one's quite different from the other naturalization projects.

In the example "How to Index a Naturalization Petitions Granted and Name Change Record", it says: "When indexing a record specifying a name change, index only the changed or corrected name." I think on line 17 of your batch, the typist forgot to hit "tab" between "Toby Leder" and "Antonette Leder", so I think it should be indexed as simply Given Names = Antonette and Surname = Leder. Your way (Given Names = Toby Leder Antonette) isn't wrong, since the basic general guideline is always to index what we see, but it will make for a bit of a head-scratcher in the published index. Perhaps a compromise would be to follow the field-specific instruction instead of the project example: "Include all aliases, nicknames, or variant names that were given for a person, separating them with the word Or": Given Names = Toby Or Antonette.

(This is neither the first nor the last time for various bits of project instructions to directly contradict each other.)

There is an example of how to index this in the PI, but you will index only the name changed to.

@erutherford, the reason for the question is that line 17 says "Toby Leder Antonette Leder" all in the Name of Petitioner column; there is nothing in the Name Change column on that line. It's pretty clear that the typist forgot to tab over to the Name Change column, but the fact remains that he didn't tab over, so all four name-parts are technically on the form as the name of the petitioner.
