Great job on City Directories
As I have completed reviewing 50,000 City Directory batches, I've discovered a lot less errors are being made this month. Well done.
Some small errors being made include:
- Adding Jr in the Surname or Prefix fields
* Reminder, you are not to include Jr or Sr in any of the fields for this project
2. Incorrectly indexing Surnames
* Reminder, if you see Riley, see also Reilly, you will only list Riley as the Surname
the Surname after the also (in this case) is only listed as a search guide recommendation
for the person using the directory - it IS not an alternate surname for the individual
3. Incorrectly indexing Widows
The project instructions do not want widows listed with the primary spouse to be indexed
ie; Smith, John (wid Mary) — do not index Mary as the spouse
Should be indexed as
Surname: Smith
Given Name: John
Spouse Surname: (CTRL B)
Spouse Given Name: (CTRL B)
ie; Dodge, Mary (widow) if listed separately would be indexed as
Surname: Dodge
Given Name: Mary
Spouse Surname: (CTRL B)
Spouse Given Name: (CTRL B)
