The current batch I am reviewing on many entries lists the male, his occupation, res, etc. and then a female name such as Mrs. Julia at the end. I feel like this is the spouse but at the same time a spouse is only considered Mrs. (first name) when she is a widow, otherwise she would be Mrs. (man's last name) if he is alive.

Please show your batch number( number at the end of the batch name) so everyone can look at it and see what is happening and can help.

If there is a spouse with the principal—like Stone, Benjamin (Mrs. Joan)—you will index the spouse's information in the spouse fields. Keep in mind that this is only for living spouses; if you see something like Stone, Julia (wid Benjamin), Benjamin is not indexed.

    US—City Directories, 1901–1935 [Part E]

    [MQ2Q-DLY]

    Example:

Niemeyer Henry F yardmaster, res 916 Grand Av, Mrs Bertha

It's not just one instance so I am guessing that it is a spouse, want to make sure.
