When a family starts on a previous page and I have the rest of the family on my page, do I index the family names from the previous page?

Also, if the family I am indexing continues onto the next page, do I finish indexing the family members on the next page?

I realize this method would lead to family members being indexed twice, but I feel it's better that someone is indexed twice than not at all.

I bring up the question because the General Indexing Guidelines for records spanning two pages states that you should start with the first complete record on your page and you should finish any record that goes onto the next page. So, is the term record referring to one name or the entire family's record?

Thoughts?

A census record is a single person's entry on a single line, so no, you will not index any names from a preceding or following page/image. There are things like the dwelling and household numbers that you may need to get from a previous page; families/households will be assembled in the published index based on those numbers, and based on your input in the "New Household Identifier" field. This is covered in detail in the example images for the project.
