Where To Find Records from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria (Canary Islands), 1960-1970
My grandfather, Albert Talch, (he changed his last name spelling from Talg, to Talch when he got his US citizenship) lived in Las Palmas for a number of years, but I am not exactly sure how long. I have a few of my mother's old photos from him dated between 1964-1968, and a Spanish newspaper clipping which appears to be from 1963. I would like to find some things like city directories (for residence info) and possibly a local area census record, or something similar. I have had no luck finding records of any kind for the Canary Islands. His time there is a complete blank that I would like to flesh out a bit. Any assistance, ideas . . . would be appreciated.

There are some telephone books, but they appear to pre-date the years of your research. The most recent I see is from 1944. https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/355815
I doubt there will be census records available from the mid-20th century, for reasons of privacy. You may find some useful guidance in the Las Palmas FamilySearch Wiki entry: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Las_Palmas,_Spain_Genealogy
Best of luck.

Ashlee,
Thanks for changing the posting category for my inquiry; I wasn't sure about the best fit. Sorry about the name you had to remove. I simply forgot & another blog site got upset when people didn't include it. I will make sure not to do so here!

Aine,
Thank you for your response. You are right about the phone books being from the wrong date range for my purposes. I appreciate the link you sent from the wiki. Somehow I missed it completely when I looked! Now I will spend time perusing it to see what I can find that might help me with this information search.
