indexing in columns

I know instructions are that we are to index down one column and then go to the top of the next column.

My instinct for this project is to finish the the alphabet, w-z, top half of the page and then pick up the A's in the middle of the first column.

direction would be appreciated

    You index top to bottom, left to right as the image is. We do not jump around from column to column.

    Yes, that's what you would do. Route 2 is a different section, so you'd finish Route 1, in which case they'd be in order. Then you would index Route 2, column by column.
