Great grandfather’s parents from Nicastro, Italy
please help me if you can. Name is Joseph Gaetano, born 10/12/1884 or 1885. In-laws were Fiori Cerchiaro and Maria Petronio from same place in Italy. He married in 1905, same year wife Gregoria Cerchiaro born 1882, arrived in America, not sure if they were married in Italy or New York State where they settled in Utica, NY. Joseph died in 1918 in Utica NY.

@Maria16739, do you know where in Italy Joseph Gaetano was born, and what year he immigrated? That would be helpful in trying to answer your question.

@Maria16739, it's very possible that Joseph ("Giuseppe") and Gregoria were married in Italy. With a quick search on Ancestry.com, I found that Giuseppe is included in at least one family tree (it does not identify his parents), and there is no obvious marriage record for him. The search included other people with the same name, but dates and spouse names appear to rule them out. Civil registration records (birth, marriage, and death) for that time period are available online for many parts of Italy, but apparently not for Catanzaro. Here is my suggestion. Contact the Ufficio di Stato Civile for Lamezia Terme (Nicastro was folded into it about 1968). Contact information is on their webpage. I would send an email first to let them know what you are looking for, and to ask about fees. They may want you to fill out a form. Ask them for Giuseppe's birth and marriage records. They will have his birth record, which will name his parents. If he married there, they will have his marriage record too. This will also name his parents. Here's the link:
