URL format of Memories items - - - old and new

So Memories items now have the following formatted URL's:

https://www.familysearch.org/memories/memory/28339976?cid=mem_copy

they used to have this format:

https://www.familysearch.org/photos/artifacts/28339976?cid=mem_copy

it seems to me both now work
(If I had some document or somethign similar outside of FS - that had the old URL format - it seems it still works when I click on it. )
AND I am hoping that the old format will contineu to work - forever (albeit translating it on the fly to the new format)

other wise there could be thousands or millions of foreign (external) links to Memories pages that all of a sudden break.

I do know that during the transition - under certain cirmstances it was indeed breaking - apparently because the mapping to the new url was not always being executed.

any way - just wanted someone to give me some comfort - that all my referrences to FS Memories (Outside of FS) will contineu to work now and for the foressen future)

Note that with all I said above - it does seem that somehow the community code - recognizes the difference in the above URL's and only creates a true hyperlink on the 1st one and not the 2nd
    which kind of surprised me

Your statement: it seems to me both now work, is not yet true. I just made an Edit, of a story, using the new Memories, and using Chrome on the web site, and my edit did not take immediately. I had done a prior edit of the same story earlier today, and it did not show immediately, but it showed up several hours later. A person editing a story will expect the edit to show immediately.

I didnt say anything about whether an "edit did not take immediately"

I was only referring to the fact both URLs are still legit. (that old URL still works as far as going to the item)

the fact that a correction/modiifcation to a story does not always immediately "take" is a different issue (known bug)

    (though a related issue)

unless I am mis-reading your post.
