Anyone know of a family history program that's better than Roots Magic?
I've been using RM version 7 for years. It's great. I love it. It's easy to use.
RM no longer supports version 7 and it no longer interfaces with FamilySearch.
I've tried Versions 8 and 9 and I think they're awful. They are not intuitive to me. I can't get decent answers from RM.
I'm ready to bail out on RM. I'd like to find another software program that I can use to keep track of my research and one that I can import ordinance information from FS directly into my program as I could easily do before on RM 7.
Does anyone have any success with another program that actually works? Money is not an issue. Finding one that actually works is my objective.
Help!!! Please!!!

Hi Rob Welcome to Family Search Community and asking your question about third party programs. Here is a link to the solutions gallery showing various programs.
Personally, I use Roots Magic 9 and find it does what I need and want. But since you don't like that, others have used Legacy and Ancestral quest and seem to like those. I would recommend you review the listing at the link provided. Many of the program have free versions which you could try. I think they all do most of want you want, so it becomes a matter of your user interface prefaces. Hope this helps.

I totally agree with @Wayland K Adams. I experimented with all of the various programs shown in the Solutions Gallery and then went with the one that was most intuitive to me! All of the programs have either a free or trial version so that you can test them out. They can all do pretty much the same things (pictures, links to pdfs, trees, sync with FamilySearch…) so really it is a matter of how easily you can use the program. Good luck!
