    YES

Branch/ Ward, even District/Stake, GROUPS can be created, principally for Temple Work (ie. the Sharing of).

Just not for creating (Private) "Trees".

For the purpose of assisting those Members who, have no immediate Family to assist them with Temple Work; or, may not be able to attend the Temple, for whatever reason.

They need to be administered carefully and mindfully.

ie. Possibly administered by, the Branch/Ward Temple & Family History Leader; or, a District/Stake Temple and Family History Consultant (or, even a District/Stake Priesthood Leader)

If you meant "community group" as in this forum's Groups section, then as far as I know, the answer is no, FS is no longer allowing the creation of additional ones of those.

@heidilthompson The feature is Family Groups, but you can invite members of your ward to join a group for this purpose. Robert Givens has created a helpful video that explains the process: Joining and Using a Ward Group at FamilySearch

    Just a suggestion.

Basically you would be creating a, Branch or Ward or District or Stake (whatever) FAMILY GROUP.

It would be created in the same way as a NORMAL Family Group is created, with an Administrator(s) & Members, of the Group.

But it would certainly NOT be a NORMAL Family Group as we know them.

No PRIVATE Tree(s) should be created & if they were, they need to be Deleted or Removed immediately.

I take it you are the Stake Temple and Family History Consultant (Family History Centre) or like.

Each Unit can have their own separate GROUP & there can be a Stake GROUP as well.

Or just each Unit having their own GROUP - some Units may not want to maintain a GROUP

    Or just a Stake GROUP

It just depends on how competent the Administrators of the Groups are.

Trial and error - Start small, if it works well - then things can be expanded if need be.

It certainly beats physically handing Cards around and trying to keep track of who you have given them to.

    Take it slow.

Unit GROUPS are probably the way to go.

A Stake GROUP can get a little unwieldy - but they can work if managed properly.

    Good Luck

    My apologies.

I submitted my response to your request for any advice some x24 Hours ago - not long after you posted.

Unfortunately, the System took its own good time and did not post my response until just now.

I made no changes, so there was no reason for the delay in the System posting so late.

@Jenny.B thank you for answering, the purpose is just as you said ..to coordinate temple work. I am the new Director and this type of group is being requested but other than indexing groups and family groups I can't find how to create a group like this. Any advice?
