Thanks0 -
@Dennis J Yancey There is no specialty team for this, but we can take care of it. Thanks for your patience as we work towards getting this done.

I have always been contacted in the past by a team that does this specifically.
when it was done - the emails always came from:FamilySearch Data Administration
a database admin team that has access to do this.. . . but just about every time I submit this type of request in the community - - most of the moderators have no clue what I am talking about - or who needs to take action.
I really wish there was a help page - that was availale to all - that specifically addressed this topic.
Maybe there is and I just havent seen it. . .
For most all historical LDS leaders - as well as all past US Presidents - as well as numerous other historical figures - their FamilyTree profile is read only. FS Users need a clear set of instructions as how to upload memories to a Read Only record - - or otherwise have these and other changes made by those at FS that have the access to make these changes. (FamilySeach Database admins)
A help article on this would really be nice - that moderators and users can become familiar with. This process seems to really take a long time - when it really should not take that much time. At least part of the issue is simply that moderators dont seem to have a consistent understanding of this - since it is not a common request - and since I think the method of resoution has changed over the past few years - it used to simply be a case ticket - that was usually resolved in less than two weeks. But case tickets have been gone for quite a long time now.

The relevant help article is What are read-only records in Family Tree?
The advice it gives for providing additional information on such profiles is to "contact FamilySearch Support" (it doesn't say anything about posting in Community). That's clearly a bit vague, but at least it does say where you would start.
As for memories, the only thing that needs to happen to connect it to a read-only profile is to add the tag. So you can upload the memory to your gallery and get all the metadata ready, and then your request to Support would only need to ask for that memory to be tagged to the read-only person. It looks like that is the process you attempted to follow above, but your request was posted to Community instead of by contacting Support.

thats the way it used to be . . .
That has changed and no one has updated the help article .
(It used to be you would create a case/ticket with FS support)all my (Read Only) requests across the last 2 years have gone thru community - and eventually did get processed after it got to the right team - which no one seemed to understand who that was at the beginning of each post.
Every time I create a post for this type of requests - its like we go thru the same bewildering process again and again.

… this also begs the question:
who really is "FamilySearch Support" (vs FS Community) and how do we contact them?
Every since the case/ticket system went away 2-4 years ago - it seems to me Community is the "catch all" for any data related questions or request. and the line between FS Support and Community (that once existed) has totally been blurred.
can someone clarify that?
Most all data related issues I know of - now go thru Community
* temple ordinance date discrepancies
* vital info data discrepancies that cant be fixed by users thru normal means
* various other tasks related to data issue
so why would linking memories to Read ONly profiles be any different?
most questions/requests like those above - usually get a response like
"we have forwarded your question to a specialty team"0 -
No feedback on this? doesnt seem to me that FamilySearch has a consistent and well documented and well communicated set of procedures related to READ ONLY Records in FamilyTRee - that both moderators and FS support are all in agreement with and understand.

There is a difference between FamilySearch Community, which is an online forum, and FamilySearch Support. We are all part of the support team, but do different things. The Community has an escalation process and FamilySearch Support has their own. If you would like to contact FamilySearch Support go here: https://www.familysearch.org/en/fieldops/united-states-and-canada-contact-us
We have escalated your request through the Community escalation process. Thank you for your patience, and please avoid posting multiple times; we have received your request and have already escalated this. Please see the Community Code of Conduct if you have questions.
