Is it possible to clear the names that come up when selecting a person while attaching a record?

I am attaching birth, death and marriage records to my Italian ancestors that I find while searching the catalog in FS. While attaching said records, step #2 is to select a person. When I select the down arrow next to "person" a list of many names pop up. Often times these names are not my person and I then have to enter said person's FSID#. Sometimes, after entering this person's FSID#, I get a msg saying "invalid person id" (or something like that) and I cannot go on. Sooo, my question is 1) Is there a way to clear the list of names that automatically pop up, and if so how is this done? And 2) Why do I sometimes get the above referenced msg "invalid person"? I hope this make sense to someone out there.
