Fixing Indexed Names Highlight problems

When fixing indexed names, I'm supposed to be able to click on an already highlighted word and then it should say detach, which I should be able to click on to get rid of an incorrectly highlighted word. But, when I hover over the highlighted word, it offers me "attach" instead of "detach". It is already attached and I need to detach it, but it won't give me that option. If I attach it and then detach it, it still doesn't work. Happens over and over on almost every name. So frustrating. Any thoughts?

What type of device are you using to index/review? On any Microsoft based computer you should be able to click on the front of a highlighted word, press delete several times until the name is gone and enter a new name in the blank space. Or am I completely missing the point of what you are saying?

@Dave Morris6 As I understand it, Kara is not indexing or reviewing, she is editing an index. It's a completely different process.

@Kara_Thompson I just tried it, and it mostly worked fine for me. The only confusing part is that after I detached the highlight, the highlight remained until I hit save. While in this state, it said Attach instead of detach, is that what is happening to you?
