Chat: switching the keys to send and add a line
In the Chat help page FamilySearch Chat Guide, section 2, subsection Begin a new conversation for the website, there is a statement that says "You can switch the keys to send and add lines in your settings.". That is, you can make Enter add a new line (just like a regular email client, word processor or indeed the editor I am using to compose this question), and Shift+Enter send the message.
I would like to do this, but I can't find any option in FamilySearch (or community) settings that will do this. Is the option actually a thing?

Wouldn't that be nice! However, I've now explored everything clickable on both the Chat popup and my account settings pages, and this option doesn't appear to actually be a thing, unfortunately, or not for mere mortal users like me. Perhaps we can be hopeful that it's an intended future function?

The option to switch between Enter and Shift+Enter for sending a message or adding a new line was a feature of the old Messaging system. I wonder if the authors of the Chat Guide started with the old documentation for Messaging and didn't check to see if the feature actually existed for Chat. Or we can hope that Julia's theory is correct and the option will be available in the future for Chat.

FYI @Julia Szent-Györgyi and @Alan E. Brown and anyone else interested, I recently found the answer. Once you have typed three characters into a message, a label appears to the left of the Send arrow icon. By default, this label says "Enter Key Sends Message". If you happen to hover your mouse over that label, bubble help "Send Options" is displayed. You can click the label to get to a dialog where you can change the setting to "Enter Key Creates New Line". That setting is remembered for your account.
I've no idea whether that was the case in April when I started this discussion. The Help Center article currently doesn't explain this.

This feature was not available in April, but it was added later (I believe it was in May).
Thanks for following up to resolve the question in this thread.
