To-Do List: Is there an upper limit to the size of an entry?
I was adding text to an existing entry in my To-Do List. When I tried to save it, an error message was displayed (of course I can't paste an image here): "Sorry. There was a problem editing this To-Do. You may need to try again later.". The edited text did appear to have been saved at the time, but when I refreshed the page, it had not been saved. The total size of the altered entry's text was about 1KB.
The help HOW TO USE THE TO-DO LIST does not mention any limit. If there is one, trying again later will probably not help (even assuming that you have saved your alterations elsewhere).

@JulianBrown38 We really need screenshots to investigate this. Please follow the instruction in this link to get them added to the post. https://forms.monday.com/forms/2f44be7ab074b1a5e1c3d6cfd9eb3074?r=use1

I can reproduce this by using the following well-known placeholder text:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Maecenas non sem vel ex pulvinar pellentesque quis a magna. Aenean semper nisl vel turpis iaculis, id eleifend purus pharetra. Aenean sem neque, vestibulum ut mattis consectetur, fringilla et mauris. Morbi commodo ex eu sapien laoreet suscipit. Duis a ligula at neque facilisis sodales. Pellentesque tristique leo a eros auctor iaculis. Donec vitae mi libero. Ut aliquet magna in odio imperdiet, sit amet iaculis odio porttitor. Cras ut quam sapien. Aliquam a nisi arcu. Cras ac malesuada odio. Integer leo metus, iaculis quis sapien lacinia, feugiat semper massa. Proin vel mi commodo, sollicitudin arcu a, pulvinar dolor. Morbi a ex sit amet libero mattis auctor id volutpat nisi. Orci varius natoque penatibus et magnis dis parturient montes, nascetur ridiculus mus. Aliquam tempus erat at sem porta sodales. Aenean eu quam eu eros lacinia imperdiet. Vestibulum in hendrerit sem. Nunc ac quam accumsan, elementum libero malesuada, pharetra turpis. Aliquam placerat tristique maximus.
I cannot paste all of this text into a new item; the error message is displayed. I can, however, paste the text from its beginning up to and including the the third to last word "placerat" (but not including the space after that word). I can save that truncated text whose length is exactly 1024 (i.e. 1K) characters. If I then edit the item and add a single character to the end (an "X" for example), I cannot save the item. The error message is displayed. At that point, the item appears as closed, with its edited contents displayed including the additional character. If I then refresh the page and look at the item, is is displayed as it was before I had attempted to edit it.
I will provide some screenshots:
- While the item is open for editing with the "X" appended.
2. After the failed attempt to save, with the item still displaying the "X". I have displayed the "Edit/Delete" menu to confirm that the system thinks that the item is no longer in edit mode.
3. After I have refreshed the browser tab. The added "X" is no longer displayed.

@JulianBrown38 I just wanted to follow up and let you know that engineering is looking into this. Thank you for the detailed info. That made it really easy to show them what was happening. Sam 😊

@JulianBrown38 The current limit is exactly what you are experiencing, 1024 bytes or about 1000 characters. The limit is being reviewed to see if it should be increased but otherwise it is doing what we expect. Do you have a specific use case for wanting more characters in the to do list? I can pass on your needs on. I will also get the article about to do lists updated. Sam 😊

@Sam Sulser Thanks. I was using the to-do list to build the text for a post in the Community. I can do that in any number of other ways, so it's not important to me. I reported it only because I thought that the current situation was confusing. Whatever maximum length you settle on, it would be useful if the error message were to be more explicit (mentioning the actual limit), as trying again later won't work. Plus, as you suggest, the help article could mention the limit.
