Is there a special access to search images in Family Search? I cannot get the search to show images

can you tell us the exact search query you are doing.
the Memories search does not currently work well with multiple compound terms and that may be part of your problem.

I went to Search/Images - I entered the location of Koschmin and used the drop down to select the Koschmin, Posen, Prussia, Germany option. I added the date of 1865. It said it was loading but nothing happens after 5 minutes. Do I need to search in a different manner?

can you share a screen shot?
and the URL?

never mind
I see it now
I think this is a new option in FamilySearch
what would be the type of images you would expect to come back from this search?

I was looking for a death record of my great-great-grandmother. I actually have a copy from a distant relative and was using these parameters to see if I could find the image. Along that line, there is a drop-down box to select the type of record for the search. However, that didn't give me a menu.

it kind of depends what type of records you are looking get get back.
Note that millions of photos/images have been uploaded to a different section of Family Search called "Memories"
these are images that have been uploaded by FamilySearch Users
BUT - this section of Search Images seems to be images of historical records (not uploaded by individual user)
that probably represents images of historical records that may or may not have yet been indexed
(thats probably why you cant do a surname search)
I think the main reason for this section of FamilySearch is to compensate for records that have not yet been indexed - but none the less can be viewed by location and subject.
I am new to this section of FamilySearch - but will take some to become familiarized and let you know what I find.
I will play with this a bit more and see what I can get for you.
but again I ask the question - if there is no way to search by surname - will this functionality really be of help to you?

I will look
but I am thinking you are better off using the SEARCH RECORDS (not images) section
and look for the name of your ancestor.
this will be much more efficient (but requires that the records be surname indexed)
what is the name you are searching on?

My ancestor is not indexed in the records - several of them are not - but I know they have records on microfilm that have not been indexed. The reason I wanted to search them is to find records to validate data I have in my family tree. I know it would be tedious, but when scanning each record (even in German or Polish) one can identify key words to validate the record. In this mode you cannot search by name, again because they haven't been indexed. Thank you for getting back to me!

ok
understood
if you share with me the persons name and place I can try and help you search
(mainly to see if the system is working as it should be)

That would be wonderful! Her name was Marianna Jankowski, born Kaminska. She died in Koschmin, Prussia on April 4 1865. Thank you for looking into this!

The system seems to be working fine for me doing SEARCH IMAGES
what browser are you using?
what type of OS? does your computer have an average amount of RAM?
what type of Network connection?
try a different computer - just to see if it works better - so you know it is something related to your computer or configuration.
