I am new to this and I understand what to index, but not always how. Two examples:

    1. The left side of image one has an oath for a person who is not the same as the person on the right side or in the second image. The left image is covered though by an overlay of the DOI of the proper person, but with a name change. So I enter that with the name change. The right side is the PoN and I enter that. The second image on the left side is the oath. Enter it. The right side is another person. How do I indicate this? Do I just put blanks?
    2. The left side of image 1 is the oath. The right side is the PoN but it is mostly covered by a sheet of paper. Image 2 has the oath again, but partly covered on the left. On the right is the PoN fully visible. Obviously, there need to be entries for the Oath and the PoN but what is the proper way?

    Thank you.

Please share your batch code. The batch code is located at the top of your indexing screen and looks like [MQVJ-J6X]. It is also under Batch —→ About Batch or Help —> Share Batch. Sharing your code helps others to guide you in the right direction.

The left side of Image 1 and the right side of Image 2 are not indexed. They are overlays that are not indexed. Image 1 is a Certificate of Arrival. The COA and the Petition are turned over on Image 2.

Thank you. That I understand. The question is about how I do it. I have to answer yes to indexing both images. Do I put "blank" in for the left side of Image 1 and the right side of Image 2? It won't allow me to not fill in something. Thank you.

Since there is only one record per image, you will delete the extra entries. To do this, follow these two steps.

On the toolbar, click on the trash can icon.

    FireShot Capture 006 - Indexing Tool — FamilySearch.org - www.familysearch.org.png

This dialog box will appear. Select "All blank entries" and you will have one entry per image. Anytime there are extra entries (like the Illinois project has two entries per image as the default, but there's one document per image), you'll follow these steps.
