Verifying place names.
When are you going to let us verify place names we are familiar with?
Its the locale person in the local area that knows what is correct. They know when a city, or town is in two counties, etc.
If this option is available I don't know how to access it.

Update: I looked the place names verify section again.
I saw this suggested place.
Occupation Fireman - North-Western Railroad
We all should realized this does not belong in place names. This is for Occupation only.
Why is it showing up here is concerning to me.
Since it made it in verifying place names how can it be flagged that it does not belong here.
Is there a dismiss from place names, or ??????

Thoughts from another user: The purpose for verifying place names is to link a standard to an existing displayed place name without doing any editing of the actual information on the profile page. It is just to clean up the "No Standard Selected" notices on profile pages.
However, separate from the volunteer activity, any user of Family Tree can edit any Family Tree profile. When not your own relatives, of course, this should be done with caution and extra care to be absolutely certain that you really know better than the users working on their relative's profile.
The occupation event under Other Information includes date, place, and description fields. In your example, clearly someone accidently put the description in the place field. This is a simple error to make and simple error to correct. Just use the ID number for the profile that you can see right there in the volunteer activity screen to go to that profile in Family Tree. Move "Fireman - North-Western Railroad" from the place field to the description field and you have fixed the problem.
Regarding fixing place name standards, whenever you run across a problem you can go to the Places database at https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/ , search for the place name to find its entry then to the right of the place name click on the "Improve this place" link to submit a correction.
