City directories
I'm posting this on behalf of an indexer in my stake. I wasn't able to answer her question so I'm hoping someone here can. Thank you.
"I was indexing a directory that had instructions to index spouses, but not those listed as a deceased spouse. What about entries like this one?
"Keating, Edward died Feb 25 1928"
He is not the spouse that died, but the entry in the directory. I left him in, because unlike the deceased spouse entries with no dates, this gives his date of death, which would be nice to know, but also confuses people when they know the date of death, but are looking for records. At least this would confirm their knowledge of the date of death."

We do index a deceased person who is listed as the primary resident.
