Reviewing Illinois Naturalization records and dates entered are flat out wrong
I have been reviewing batches of the Illinois Naturalization 1930-1945 [Part B] and have noticed multiple records with dates that wildly wrong and/or are not found anywhere on the document image. Latest example is a Petition for Naturalization record where the indexer said the record day/month/year was 12/May/1941. This date does not exist anywhere on the image. I don't know where the indexer is finding that date, or if they are somehow taking it from somewhere else. The only other image in this batch is for a different individual, from 1942.
Also, these Illinois Petitions for Naturalization do not have a date down by the petitioner's signature. What date should these be indexed under? I'm confused and unsure how to proceed to get these dated properly.

Sound like they are using the +1 reference image (or the second image of the batch) to fill in the date, which is what you will do. After 1940, this date was located on the back of the document with the Affidavit of Witness.
Without seeing your batch, if you are meaning the Oath, you will use the Oath date, irregardless of admittance. Denials did (and still do) happen. If there is no date at all, you will mark those fields blank.
In the future, please post your batch code. That code is located at the top of your indexing screen and looks like [MQNL-TPH]. The code is also under Batch ---> About Batch and Help ---> Share batch.

The code is MQJK-YXL. The two images in this batch are for two separate people. There is no second page with Affidavit of Witness, nor Oath for the petitioner Frances Rammel Janke in this batch. How am I supposed to find that?

Image 1 is done correctly. The AOW is for the previous image, so that is not indexed, just the name and Oath date. Image 2's date is located on the +1 Reference Image and does contain the date of 5/12/41.
To access reference images, click the last button on the vertical toolbar. You can go backwards or forwards five images.

Thank you! I've learned something new today. I appreciate your help.
