missing year
I recently did an image for Louth County parish registers in which the year of the record never showed up in the image. I feel that seriously hurt the usefulness of those indexed records. Is there a way we can find out the year when it doesn't appear. And if so, how do I get back to myentry to add the year.

It should help if you would share the details with us - screenshot or URL of where you are seeing this. The reason for the year being missing, and a possible way it can be ascertained, could then be examined by others. Whether you could then get back and add the (hopefully determined) date depends on whether the record is editable. Regardless, if someone here can help you establish the date, you could then add it to the profile of the person in Family Tree to whom it refers.
In short, there is no one answer to such a general query, so you really need to provide specific details regarding this case.

If I'm reading @KathrynHanna1's post correctly, this was part of an indexing project.
The old Irish Roman Catholic registers often do not have a year on each page. The practice varied from parish to parish and priest to priest. The older registers were just plain paper with no preprinted forms.
In general, when the indexing project goes live online, the page you indexed will be assembled with the pages others have indexed, and the year(s) will be added to the metadata of the project.

I agree with both Paul and Áine: the answer is "it depends", and the question sounds like it might be about indexing.
The instructions vary by indexing project; some of them allow some fields to be filled in based on the reference images, while others omit that because they expect to add the information in pre- or post-processing. But regardless of the specifics, keep in mind that you are not creating a transcription or replacement for the image. You're just making it easier for people to find the image. If the year isn't mentioned on the page, and the instructions say not to fill it in based on preceding or following pages, or if the date is missing from the reference images, too, then future users of the index will simply need to do some paging through to figure out a date for the indexed record. You will still have made their lives easier, by pointing them at the names/event of possible interest.

Unfortunately, the Irish RC registers on FamilySearch have no images - it's an index only, at least at the moment. Fortunately, the same records are on at least 3 other sites, with images on all 3. It's free to view the images on 2 other sites. So, it may take a user a little work to find the records to view them, but it's not hard.
