Unlink Sources after Unmerge Automatically
I have run acrosss HUNDREDS of files that have been merged incorrectly. For example in Wales is seems that many of the men were named either David Evans or Evan Evans. When they are merged the sorces are combined.
When they are unmerged the original person is given back thier sources- however the sources also stay with the person that they were merges with. This creates confusion and aditional work in deleting sources as well as noted and events. If this could be done when the two indivisuals are unmerged it could reduce the people that are merged a second time.

HEARTILY agree. A huge amount of my editing time is spent fixing bad merges, and an inoridinate percentage of that is spent manually re-arranging the sources, requiring many, many clicks and much typing. The original (bad) merge created its havoc with only a few clicks. There needs to be smart "un-merge" tool that can analyze the sources and allow you to specify the correct target family. It should note those sources that have links to the wrong persons (or multiple links to the same person) and allow you to replace them with a confirming click, just like it does with a merge.

I'm not sure that I like the idea of a "smart 'un-merge' tool that can analyze the sources". Too many smart tools are anything but smart, simply because of the reality of the number of different combinations.
However, I would definitely support an easier-to-use unmerge tool. I may be wrong but I have a suspicion that someone actually mocked up an example user interface with the current profile values in a column in the middle and the resulting, post-demerge profiles on left and right. (It might have been just two columns, by the way, one per profile id.)
The idea was that the user could visually check the screen and click values to move them left or right into the correct demerged profile.
Someone more adept at searching might be able to find that mock-up - if it exists outside my head.
