Updates to Suggest an Idea
π 11-5-24 Update: Suggest an Idea is still under construction. The recent changes that you have been seeing with posts going through were due to a back end change from Vanilla which broke our process that we are building. Rest assured, we have not lost any of your suggestions and we are actively moving them through the new process. Please continue to bear with us through this change.
9-19-24 Update: Just to let you know we are still working to change the process and technology. Thank you for your continued patience.
4-4-24 (8:09AM) Update: Hello community friends! We have learned a lot this last month or so since we launched the new process for Suggest an Idea. We have received quite a bit of feedback from all of you and our moderators. This feedback and several issues we have encountered with the platform have prompted some decisions on our part. We are pivoting to a new strategy and process for this category. I know, I know....GROAN! We apologize for the changes and the tech issues (although they were out of our control), but our focus and dedication remain the same. We want your ideas to be seen by our engineering teams. That's the bottom line. We need a process that does this in the best possible way and after what we have learned, we feel we need to make a shift. You are welcome to continue posting your ideas. We will integrate them into the new process when it it complete.
3-21-24 (8:50PM) Update: An additional issue that is being addressed relates to drafts being hung up in your queue. Will update you when we have more info.
3-21-24 (6:03PM) Update: The user identifier seems to be repaired now when you click on the reactions. Still working on the missing reactions on the idea.
3-21-24 (12:20PM) Update: The up and down arrows should now be working for everyone. You can see both the like and dislike reactions on the comment only. We are still working to get the reactions returned to the idea.
Additionally, we still are working to get one piece fixed related to the user identifier with the reactions and will let you know when that is working again. Thanks for your understanding and patience. This was much more complex to get repaired than we could have ever anticipated.
3-14-24 We are aware that there are issues with the up and down voting as well as the reactions, in the Suggest an Idea Category. We are working with our engineers to get this fixed ASAP. Thank you for your patience as we get this repaired.

No need to apologize for progress (as far as I'm concerned).
Besides fixes, are there any other changes planned?

Hi Stephanie
I referenced you and @Ashlee C. at a Suggest An Idea post with URL https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/comment/574261#Comment_574261, which appeared over the weekend (got through the radar?) but has subsequently vanished.
These were the comments added there on the general problem with "disappearing SAI" items:

I think the only Suggestions that have not been deleted/moved are ones that have been posted over the weekend hours. I've been grabbing copies of anything that looked interesting/useful before it vanishes.

Would you kindly keep an eye on this issue (especially in line with the comments made by @Γine NΓ Donnghaile). It is obviously worrying when there appears to be one situation for weekdays and another for weekends (with regards to how long new Suggest An Idea posts are likely to "stick" here).

It would be nice to know what is going on.
Are non-suggestions, that is, questions and bug reports, being moved to different categories where they can be discussed and commented and and actual suggestions being moved to development teams for consideration but deleted here because we are not suppose to comment on or criticize ideas?

I tried a couple of weeks ago to find out what was happening, without much luck:

It is good to see Ideas flowing again. Will items submitted during the maintenance period be coming through, or do we need to resubmit them?

@Stephanie V. and @Ashlee C.
Please advise us if this discussion is moved. As you can see, a lot of attention has been given to the OP's cause of concern and it would be disappointing if these comments were to suddenly disappear, due to the item being removed from the Suggest An Idea category, under which it currently sits.
Perhaps you could provide an update to the situation and also ensure all the hard work being applied in posting and responding to these items - especially this particular one (headed Always use Vitals Names for search results within family tree and posted on 2 November by NM78) has not been in vain.
Thanks - Paul
