"Oops" message dragging and dropping text while adding or editing a "Reason This Source Is Attached"
If you want to add or edit the reason this source is attached, you may encounter an "Oops, something went wrong..." message.
- Go to the Sources tab of a person and expand an already-linked source;
- Click the Add or Edit button at the bottom of the source;
Select some text from somewhere (in a browser window or in some other application such as NotePad), and drag and drop it into the "Reason..." text box.
This will cause the whole client area (below the "About ... Time Line" menu) to be cleared and replaced with a message "Oops, something went wrong. Please refresh the page.". You have to F5 and start again. Some other text fields do support drag and drop. This error is reproducible.
I'm using a PC with 64-bit Windows 10 Pro 22H2. The error happens with Chrome and Edge fully updated browsers.
Can this be sent to Engineering?
I have a supplementary question. This generic message seems to have been reported here as occurring in various parts of the FamilySearch website. When these errors occur, do they get reported automatically to Engineering with diagnostic information attached? In other words, is there little point in reporting them here, other to alert users who may encounter the problem?

@JulianBrown38 I am following up on this one. This was reported to engineering and it is on their backlog. It doesn't have a high priority so it may not be addressed for quite some time.
Your secondary question didn't get answered. Sorry about that! We try to make sure questions are answered but miss them sometimes. This is a really great place to submit issues. We not only report them but we track them and watch for resolution to them.
We include a link to the community discussion and also include in the ticket any details you provided. For example, you gave great detail to the issue you saw and how it happened. That info was included and is also very appreciated. The better we can explain an issue, the more likely it is understood. You can tell something has been reported when someone (often a mod but not always) makes a comment that the issue was forwarded or reported in some way.
Sam 🙂
