Julian and Gregorian dates for Sweden
The instructions for project Sverige, Stockholm—Register till kyrkoböcker, 1546–1927 [Del 9][MQQV-R1Z] (SWEDEN) explain about the discrepancy between Julian and Gregorian dates, however, the instructions indicate that NORWAY adopted the Gregorian in 1700. The project is not NORWAY; it is SWEDEN! My research shows that Sweden did not adopt the Gregorian calendar until 1753, so this is very confusing and could cause indexers to not convert dates that need it for the years 1700 to 1753. This particular batch doesn't have any such cases, but I assume others do. If I am missing something, please let me know.

The confusion regarding the adoption of the Gregorian calendar in Sweden and Norway is understandable. While Norway did adopt the Gregorian calendar in 1700, Sweden did not make the switch until 1753 [1][2][3]. It is important to note that this project specifically pertains to Sweden, and indexers should be aware of the correct calendar system to use for the years 1700 to 1753 in Sweden.

So how do we get the instructions for this project changed to reflect that?

This has been reported. Thanks for letting us know about the problem.

Please don't tell me that there continue to be project instructions that include instructions to convert dates (possibly with the help of a calculator) from Julian to Gregorian. This practice goes against all genealogical conventions and should cease immediately with regards to all FamilySearch indexing projects.
How such instructions are supposed to be compatible with the generic advice to "index exactly what is written" remains completely baffling.
