How are PID numbers generated?

    Not completely randomly: the new IDs I created two days ago all began with G1... and the ones I created today with G5..., so they do seem to follow some sort of sequence, but not relevant to name or any other discernible factor, other than perhaps the point (in time) at which they are added.

    I believe it's basically "by timestamp": when someone creates a new profile, it gets assigned the next available ID. How that "next available ID" is defined/determined, I haven't a clue. It does seem to iterate sort of in alphanumeric sequence, but in "chunks" rather than completely sequentially since 2012.
